Beautiful Life and Style

Artwork by: Laurel Sparks (pt 2)

Last night Nick and I were lucky enough to attend a meet and greet with one of my favorite contemporary artists, Laurel Sparks, at Child’s Gallery on Newbury St. The event was hosted by the MFA Summer Party, a benefit gala in Boston that is always a great party to kick off the summer season!

I was excited to learn that after a year in Italy, Laurel has gone in a completely new direction with her art. The result is a much more geometric, layered look. The piece that we received is entitled “Solid Gold” aptly named after the Summer Party theme. Instead of her typical addition of sparkle with rhinestones and glitter, the artist layered levels of gold-leaf to create an amazingly complex piece. It GLOWS. I’m really excited to frame it and hang it in our place!

Laurel Sparks has a completely new website featuring her new style of work. I think you will agree that while it is a new direction it still stays true to her original style that I love. I recommend you head over and check it out! Here are a few of my new favorites:
